Thermostat - Large Opening - 170 Degrees

Thermostat spring goes INTO intake side.
On some manifolds, this thermostat may not open fully with an original heater valve installed. The distance from the front of the manifold casting (where the thermostat is installed) to the edge of the hole for the heater valve must be 1.5” minimum. If an original heater valve is used and the distance described is less than 1.5”, remove the heater valve and cut the tube off to no longer then 3/8” past the threads.

Manufacturer's rating: Designed to crack open at 170°+/-2° and will be fully open at +15° to 20°.  This does not mean the engine will be running 170°.  In hot climates, TBird engines will easily run hotter than 210 and that shouldn't be a problem.
